A Very Merry iPhone Christmas

It seems that one of Santa's favorite gifts this year was Apple's Swiss army knife device, the wondrous iPhone.

I woke up on Boxing Day (which coincidentally is also my son's birthday) to discover that the traffic to the iPhone version of AOL Mobile Search doubled on Christmas Day. It seems all those Christmas gifts got unwrapped and everybody started searching.

We did not see a similar increase in traffic for our Blackberry, Windows Mobile or other versions of Mobile Search that day. So if you're following the mobile wars between Apple, RIM, Nokia and Microsoft it looks like Cupertino has the lead.

Based on our logs here's what's most popular among the new iPhone crowd:

Most Popular Application: AIM
Most Popular Web Site: MySpace
Most Popular Celebrity: Jennifer Aniston
Most Popular Gift: Stanley Tools
Most Popular Xmas site: Santa Tracker

If you're a new iPhone user, we'd love to hear what you think of AOL Mobile Search. Leave a comment and let us know!

If you want to try it out, click here.

Find the Cheapest Gas with AOL

We've all been waiting for gas prices to drop, and they are finally falling. In some parts of the country gas is below $3 per gallon for the first time in months. Of course you will want to take full advantage of the current prices and fill up your tank, but you may be having trouble finding the absolute cheapest gas in your area. With AOL's Gas Prices One Click, you can find the cheapest gas at the nearest gas station with the click of a button.

Just search for gas on AOL Search and we will do the hunting for you. All we need is your zip code to search every gas station in your area and then we can seek out the best deal for you. Next time you looking for low gas prices, the One Click will remember your zip code so all you have to do is search gas again for your shortcut to the pump.

Never been to that gas station before? No problem. With cheap gas waiting for you there, we know you'll want to go fill up as soon as possible. Just click on the name of the gas station and MapQuest will show you exactly where it is and provide step by step travel instructions. We also show you more detail about the gas station, such as the price for mid-grade gas and places of interest nearby.

Planning a trip? Use MapQuest to find the cheapest gas stations along your way. Before you hop into your car and start your road trip, check out the gas calculator. It helps you budget how much gas you will need and how much it will cost so that you can plan stops at the lowest priced gas stations on your route.
